Industrial Axial Fan Manufacturers: What to Look For
Choosing between axial fan manufacturers is rarely as simple as comparing one technical specification sheet with another. Fans that continue to operate reliably after twenty years share a common origin: manufacturers that design with actual operating conditions in mind, and axial fan suppliers able to stand behind the fan for its entire working life.
CBI Group has been designing and producing industrial axial fans since 1963. Set out below are the factors that distinguish a reliable axial fan supplier from one that merely resells from a catalogue.

What to Look For in an Axial Fan Supplier
Not every name on a search results page can support a demanding industrial installation. Before shortlisting axial flow fan manufacturers, four criteria are worth checking directly.
- Engineering capability: a manufacturer that only assembles third-party components cannot adapt blade geometry, casing material or motor position to your specific operating resistance. CBI designs every axial fan in-house;
- Certifications tied to the actual application: generic quality marks are not enough for safety-critical uses. For tunnel and gallery ventilation, check that the fan is certified to EN 12101-3 and rated for real fire conditions. CBI's CBJET series, for instance, is certified for 400°C over two hours;
- Range depth across pressure and flow: an axial fan supplier with a single product line will struggle to match your specific duty point. Several series covering different pressure and flow combinations get closer to your requirement without forcing a custom redesign;
- Services after delivery: installation, commissioning, predictive maintenance, revamping and spare parts should come from one accountable source. CBI's Spares & Service Division covers the full lifecycle, including fans not originally manufactured by CBI.
CBI's Range of Industrial Axial Fans
CBI's axial fan range spans five series, each built around a different combination of blade type and drive configuration, all with impellers up to 2,240 mm in diameter.
GAT series
The fans are engineered for high performance and reliability, with flow from pulley to impeller, suitable for horizontal or vertical installation, featuring heavy-gauge galvanized steel casings and high-efficiency aluminum impellers with low noise levels.

AXL series

GAV/GAX series
The GAV/GAX series features axial fans with wing-profile, adjustable-pitch blades, engineered for high performance and low noise, with sturdy galvanized steel casings and direct-coupled impellers to minimize maintenance and costs.

EFA series

CBJET series
The CBJET series is designed for tunnel and gallery installations, ensuring long-term reliability, smoke extraction capability in case of fire, and EN 12101-3 certification up to 400°C/2h.

GAT and GAV/GAX cover moderate flow and pressure for standard industrial ventilation, EFA and AXL move into higher airflow and pressure territory, and CBJET is purpose-built for life-safety tunnel applications rather than general industrial use.
Engineering and Customisation
Standard series cover most applications, but CBI also engineers axial fans around constraints a catalogue product cannot solve: unusual duct geometry, elevated operating temperatures, or integration into an existing installation without a full redesign of the surrounding structure.
Every custom project goes through the same design process as standard products: CFD analysis to validate aerodynamic performance, FEM analysis to check structural behaviour under real operating loads, and testing before the fan leaves the factory. This is what allows CBI to reach impeller diameters of 2,240 mm and jet fan thrust levels up to 3,000 N without compromising reliability.
Applications
Industrial axial fans are chosen specifically for high airflow at low to medium pressure, which makes them the right fit for a narrower set of applications than centrifugal fans:
- large industrial buildings and process halls, where high air volumes matter more than pressure;
- tunnels and infrastructure, for both continuous ventilation and emergency smoke extraction;
- industrial processes running at elevated temperatures, up to 180°C in specific configurations.
Where the application calls for higher pressure or dust-laden, corrosive or aggressive airflows, a centrifugal fan is typically the better-suited choice, and CBI's centrifugal range covers those conditions separately.
CBI: Your Axial Fan Manufacturer and Supplier
The difference between axial fan manufacturers rarely shows up on day one. It shows up after years of continuous operation, when the fan engineered for your actual conditions is still running and the one selected purely on catalogue price is not.
CBI Group has supported engineers, EPC contractors and industrial operators with axial fan manufacturing since 1963, combining in-house engineering, a certified range and full lifecycle service under one roof.
